The most noticeable features are the bright yellow rump and the pale eyering. The mastacalis subspecies has a tawny wash on its breast. Note also the large eyes and the conspicuous rictal bristles which give the bird its English name. They are very active and restless birds found in humid forest and secondary woodland. |
